Ingredients for Marshmallow Polar Bears

Ingredients for Marshmallow Polar Bears
  • 1 jumbo marshmallow (base of the bear)
  • 1 standard-sized marshmallow (cut in half for the muzzle)
  • 2 mini marshmallows (for the ears)
  • 2 candy eyeballs (for the face)
  • 1 chocolate candy (e.g., M&M’s, for the nose)
  • Melted white chocolate (for attaching pieces; use a microwave or double boiler)

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Prepare the base: Start with the jumbo marshmallow as the body of the polar bear.
  2. Create the muzzle: Cut the standard marshmallow in half. Use one half for the muzzle.
  3. Attach the muzzle: Dab a small amount of melted white chocolate on the cut side of the marshmallow half and press it onto the jumbo marshmallow.
  4. Add the nose: Place a small dab of melted white chocolate on the chocolate candy (where the logo is printed) and attach it to the top of the muzzle.
  5. Attach the eyes: Dab melted white chocolate on the back of each candy eyeball and place them above the muzzle on the jumbo marshmallow.
  6. Add the ears: Dab melted white chocolate on each mini marshmallow and attach them to the top sides of the jumbo marshmallow.
  7. Set the bears: Place the assembled polar bears in the fridge for 5-10 minutes to allow the chocolate to set.
  8. Serve: Once set, pop the marshmallow polar bears into a cup of hot chocolate and enjoy!

Perfect Pairings for Your Polar Bears

These Marshmallow Polar Bears are a delightful addition to a steaming cup of hot chocolate. For extra fun, try adding a sprinkle of cocoa powder or cinnamon on top of your drink. You can also pair them with a plate of cookies or a slice of gingerbread for a cozy winter treat.

Quick Tips for Assembly Success

To make the process smoother, keep your melted white chocolate in a small bowl and use a toothpick for precise dabbing. If the chocolate starts to harden, simply reheat it in short bursts. Work quickly but carefully to ensure each piece sticks perfectly before moving on to the next step.

Creative Variations to Try

Switch things up by using different colored M&M’s or candy eyes for a playful twist. You can also swap the white chocolate for milk or dark chocolate for a richer flavor. For a festive touch, add a tiny sprinkle of edible glitter or a mini candy cane as a scarf.

Storage and Serving Suggestions

Once assembled, store your polar bears in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days. If you’re making them ahead of time, pop them in the fridge to set, but let them come to room temperature before serving. They’re best enjoyed fresh for maximum marshmallow fluffiness!

Fun for All Ages

This recipe is a great activity for kids and adults alike. Set up a decorating station with all the ingredients and let everyone create their own polar bear masterpieces. It’s a sweet way to bond and get creative during the holiday season!
