- 1 can 15 oz/420 g tomatoes, whole or crushed
- 1 can 6 oz/170 g tomato paste
- ¼ of a small onion
- 2 large garlic cloves
- 1 heaped tablespoon dried Italian herbs
- 1 teaspoon granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
In a food processor or blender, combine all ingredients and pulse until smooth.
Use immediately or refrigerate in an airtight container for up to 5 days. For longer storage freeze the sauce in ice cube trays, then pop out cubes and transfer to an airtight container. Defrost only what you need in the microwave or in a small saucepan over low heat, just until melted. Use within 2 months.
